Solar energy is the radiation energy reaching to the earth released by the sun due to the core fusion reactions in the sun. Solar energy term refers to the amount of radiation energy coming from the sun, not total energy of the sun.
Turkey has a great potential to use solar energy (1311 kWh/m^2/year) because of its geographical and mathematical location. In contrast, Turkey depends on foreign energy suppliers at 75 per-cent of all energy consumption within year 2009. Because of this reason, solar energy based invenstmens are very significant for Turkey.
Determining the most suitable location, measuring related data for a certain period and choosing suitable technology (PV, CSP, CPV) are all required for solar investments to make a reliable feasibility study and evaluate solar potential efficiently.
